About This Blog
I started this blog a few years back looking for an outlet when politics and politicians, mostly national ones, and certain current events infuriated me so much that I wanted to scream. So many Hypocrites! And Heffalump traps -- well that's sort of a Pooh-type thing except the trap part is where a politician does something that s/he thinks is real cool or clever but essentially sets a trap that s/he falls into. Bites 'im in the arse, as it were. Backfires on 'er. Whatever.
So why the focus on Alaska for several months!? It's all Sarah Palin's fault really. Because in my search to find out what she was about, I found and fell in love with Alaska, mostly thanks to a brilliant blogger who wrote wonderful, enchanting, scary and urgent stories about Alaska politics and politicians. But also, too, about moose visitors and about standing and freezing for hours at a time, for our benefit.
For the time being, I consider myself a born-again Alaskan, even though I've never been there. I'm sure this will pass, but I did live outdoors in a tent during the late winter and early spring months in a place called Cold Stream Valley in the northern Sierra Nevada mountains one year a long time ago. So I can sort of relate.
On the topic of anonymity. I use a pseudonym and I don't add the fact that I publish a little blog to my resume. In fact, nobody I work with would know this is my little corner of the 'net. And I'd like it to stay that way, thank you very much. Seems like you have to make that very clear, these days. And even then, it doesn't always sink in.
